Big stars coming for Brisbane International which begins tomorrow. The players who are coming includes top 3 players in the World such as Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams. Both Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams are fit for the game. Maria Sharapova has started some warm up practice for the tournament and Daniela Hantuchova was spotted going for a surf before the game. It was also mentioned that the big stars court attention and boost tourism in Brisbane. Last year's event drew more than 92,000 fans and saw visitors shell out for 28,000 bed nights, bringing an estimated $3.81 million to the Queensland economy. The tournament prize purse has almost doubled from $655,000 last year to $1 million, with the women's event now rated just below Grand Slams for prestige and rankings points. The Brisbane International is a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It is currently part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour and of the WTA Premier tournaments of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour. It is held annually in January at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, just before the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open.
