The Madrid Open this year has began and it is time for all the top players to gather again. At the first rounds for the many tennis players who want to be at the top at this open. The previous champion Aravane Rezai who stunned Venus Williams was surprisingly out at the first round by the Swede Sofia Arvidsson.

The current World Number One did well at the first round showing the standards of a true champion and went on to the next. Maria Sharapova currently ranked World Number 9 though struggled a little, went on to win the game. Close shave for her but she did it and the spectators are happy as they will be seeing her more at the courts.
More to come at the Madrid Open 2011.

This was never an easy match for Caroline. She had to give her best tennis in some moments of the match in order to bypass the Serbian. After all she didn't show a great performance but rather she showed weakness on her serve. Anyway this tournament will be her first big test on (red) clay before Roland Gaross.
