What is a counterpuncher in tennis?

When people say you are a counterpuncher in tennis, what does that exactly means? Or do you actually know you are a counterpuncher? A counterpuncher is basically a defensive baseline player who react to their opponents' shots. This type of player usually allows their opponents to dictate the play and then they counter.

How do you discern who is a counterpuncher? They usually play further back in the court and hit with groundstrokes with a higher net clearance and more spin. The purpose of the shot is to neutralise opponents' power and attacks.

One of the main traits that the counterpuncher has is that she/ he never give up in the game.
